Brackenridge Park, one of the oldest San Antonio points of interest, offers many San Antonio birdwatching sites. Park on Red Oak and cross Mulberry to walk south on Avenue A between the golf course and San Antonio River. You might find nesting Yellow-crowned Night-Herons in the trees along the river bank or hear a Barred Owl calling. Wood Ducks are often seen floating along the river. Migratory warblers and orioles land in the trees in spring and fall foraging for food. View the Avenue A bird checklist. You can also park near the Joske Pavilion and observe birds in the trees and in the river. View the Joske Pavilion bird checklist. Trails throughout the park also offer birdwatching opportunities. Other Brackenridge Park activities in San Antonio include visiting the zoo and Japanese Tea Garden. Another of the great San Antonio attractions for nature, science and culture, the Witte Museum, is nearby.
